Jungle Nymphs

 

A large, long lived species which can live for up to 2 years. They can be handled but this must be done with care as they are quite prickly.

This species is sexually dimorphic meaning males and females look different - Females have an ovipositer (a little tube at the end of their abdomen for laying eggs) which can be seen from the first instar. Mature females are much bigger than males and are bright green/yellow wheras males are mottled brown.

Food plant - Bramble, Dog Rose and Ivy (Ivy should be used sparingly - not as the main diet) 

Egg to Adult - 12 months 

Adult females can live for up to 12 months whereas males can live for up to 4 months
